5.00 10.00

Standart Magazine celebrates the art and craft of coffee, delivering a thoughtful and carefully curated selection of articles and interviews within a high quality and beautifully presented magazine. The content is structured into five chapters: the coffee, the barista, the ritual, the people and the world. First published in Nitra, Slovakia, and now produced in Vienna, Standart provides an insight into the rapidly growing speciality coffee scene across Europe.

Highlights of issue 5 (June 2016) include:

  • a discussion with Merry White, anthropology professor at Boston University, about coffee culture and how coffee can provide different experiences for people around the world;
  • Konrad Brits, CEO of UK-based green coffee importers Falcon Coffees, writes about how a lack of credit in coffee producing countries has shaped the coffee supply chain;
  • a walk through the history of the World Aeropress Championship with co-founder Tim Varney;
  • Michael Phillips, Director of Training at Blue Bottle, gives his views on different educational approaches to coffee, hospitality from Los Angeles to Tokyo and the future of automation in coffee;
  • thoughts on the role of the coffee shop as an intellectual meeting place in Baghdad;
  • barista tips and insights from former World Barista Champion Gwilym Davies on the art of milk steaming and pouring.
